You'll find no malls, theme parks, or sports events - but we can direct you to old-fashioned wonders. Walk to a mountain meadow overlooking two watersheds. Perhaps mist will fill the valleys, or the mountain tops will be resplendent in colors of the sunset. Arrange ahead for a Dinner/Hayride on a wagon pulled by an antique tractor. Bike or drive to a wonderful swimmin' hole complete with natural water slides and a waterfall, where you can look out through crystal ribbons of water. There's no better place than on our deck for stargazing and to really see the Milky Way, or enjoy a meteor shower.

You'll find lots of hiking and biking trails here and nearby. Try your hand at trout fishing and we'll cook your catch for dinner. In winter, we have a wonderland of beauty to play in. Put on your cross-country skis at our door and glide through woods or open pasture. Bring your own or use our sleds to recapture the fun you had as a kid - share it with your own kids.

Snowshoe Mountain Resort is only 11 miles away for downhill fun. There's often lots of activites there and great places to get great meals - from pizza to fine dining.

There are great driving tours for day trips from Nakiska Chalet. Hike through a virgin forest or take a picnic lunch to High Rocks, overlooking the Greenbrier Valley. Walk on a boardwalk protecting the bog at Cranberry Glades. Plants thrive here that are usually found way north on tundra. Railroading is growing in our area. There are several different rail experiences nearby. At Cass, ride on a steam-powered train pulled by a Shay Engine once used for logging. At Durbin, ride the Dinky for five miles along the Greenbrier River. On top of Cheat Mountain board an enclosed rail bus for a wilderness experience. And there's more!
