     Nakiska is a Cree Indian word meaning "where friends meet". We're waiting to meet you in our comfortable, casual wood, stone, and glass chalet on a genuine West Virginia country road. If you're drawn to picture-pretty scenery, peace and quiet, and lovely out-of-the-way spots, you'll enjoy your stay with us in West Virginia's super, natural, Potomac Highlands.

    After a country-quiet night, breakfast is served when you're ready. Let us know when you book a room if you prefer anything special. We do low-carb, vegetarian, and other special requests.

    Welcome the evening on our deck or enjoy our cozy gathering room complete with a wonderful stone fireplace that may be lit year-'round, even on our cool summer evenings. On cold nights steam in the sauna, then sizzle in the snow to make angels. Stargazing is wonderful from our deck. Snuggle in a comforter and sip cocoa while being awestruck by the Milky Way or meteor showers. 

Skiing at Snowshoe Mountain Resort (we're six miles from their entrance) and playing in the snow right here are popular in the winter. All the summer mountain activities are within reach here including a growing list of train excursions. In addition to the activities that we can recommend, feel free to relax and do some creative loafing. Come play!
